Alliance for Global Justice hasn't added a story.
Alliance for Global Justice needs your support this summer!
For decades, AfGJ has brought together foreign and domestic struggles through popular education, shared infrastructure, human rights accompaniment, and mobilized direct action. We know that the foreign struggles we stand in solidarity with are examples of the struggles we need to win for our own liberation. We strive to live in the world we want to create. AfGJ is a small workers' collective, 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to solidarity and a non-hierarchical democratic process. Our collective provides people's movements with the tools and resources needed for true liberatory change. Our work is broader and further reaching than it ever has been before, and we need your support.

With your contribution to our 2022 Summer Campaign, we can fulfill our organizing goals for the remainder of the year and continue our important work into the future.
As an example of our work, this past May, AfGJ went where others were not willing to go. During our delegation to observe the first round of elections in Colombia, the levels of political violence were so high in the north of Cauca that our credentials as international observers were rescinded. But we went anyway.
Yes, we were fully aware that in just the previous six weeks, three people had been assassinated by paramilitary death squads. Yes, we knew about the threats. But we didn't turn away. Instead, we accompanied working people under threat for exercising their right to vote. What kind of observers and accompaniers would we be if we abandoned our friends and comrades, if we didn’t go where ‘angels fear to tread’? That’s what AFGJ brings to the table: heart, courage, commitment. | ![]() |
Now we're asking for solidarity from our community in the conservation and expansion of our work. We have big goals for the remainder of the year, and with your help, we can attain them.
Together, we will:
Promote respect for democracy. We will continue to ardently oppose economic blockades and unilateral coercive measures against sovereign countries Venezuela, Cuba, and Nicaragua.
Cultivate worker-to-worker solidarity throughout the Americas. We are bridging unions and working-class peoples through conferences, webinars, and delegations.
Commit to human rights-centered organizing. We will further develop our ability to form a network of virtual observers via livestream of elections and movements in the streets. We will launch the Lucy Parsons Human Rights School, an offering for community organizers to train in human rights observation.
Fight against prison imperialism. We will organize for the freedom of political prisoners Alex Saab, Simón Trinidad, Mumia Abu Jamal, Leonard Peltier, Iman Jamil Abdullah al-Amin, and Julian Assange and we will lead the fight against the mass incarceration model around the world.
Monitor U.S. involvement in Latin America. We will continue to demand transparency from the Solidarity Center, the AFL-CIO's tool for foreign intervention.
So far in 2022:
![]() | ![]() | ![]() | We have co-sponsored Women in Nicaragua: Power & Protagonism, a virtual course examining the impact of Nicaragua's title as a world leader in gender equality, which will include a delegation to Nicaragua in January 2023. | Along with two incredible groups of delegates, we reported on the frontlines during both rounds of Colombia's recent presidential election. AfGJ organized marathon livestreams that reached thousands of viewers. Our reporting was received enthusiastically by our comrades on the ground and by the thousands who tuned in across the world. | We founded the Lucy Parsons Popular Human Rights School, a popular education initiative that centers frontline grassroots leadership in the American continent. It envisions a stronger and more unified network of human rights observers organizing their communities to uproot the capitalist, colonialist, imperialist and patriarchal violence at the core of human rights violations in and outside of U.S. borders. |

![]() | We took a large role in the organization of the Workers' Summit of the Americas, held in Tijuana in June 2022. The summit brought people together from all across the Americas, with strong representation from Venezuela, Cuba, and Nicaragua. | We are a strong force in the fight to free Alex Saab, the Venezuelan diplomat illegally kidnapped and detained in the U.S. We continue to organize demonstrations, promote awareness, and issue statements on the illegal political persecution of Saab. |
Please contribute today to receive updates on upcoming delegations, courses, and conferences, as well as stay informed on our developing work.
Please share our fundraiser with your communities -- this support is also critically needed!
